Kamala Harris Keeps Options Open for Presidential Run

Kamala Harris is not dismissing the possibility of another presidential campaign.

Expectations for a Woman President

In a recent interview with the BBC released on Saturday, the former vice president expressed her belief that a woman will ascend to the presidency in the near future, and she hinted that it could very well be her.

“I am not done,” Harris asserted, leaving the door open for her political ambitions.

Future Plans Remain Uncertain

While Harris has not made a definitive decision about running for the 2028 presidential election, she is not deterred by any potential challenges. Responding to concerns about facing difficult odds, she stated, “I have lived my entire career a life of service and it’s in my bones. And there are many ways to serve. I’ve never listened to polls.”

Reflecting on Her Political Journey

Her recent media appearances coincide with the September release of her book, “107 Days.” This memoir recounts her experiences stepping in as the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee after Joe Biden withdrew from the race.

Despite her efforts, she ultimately lost to the Republican candidate, Donald Trump.

Positioning for the Future

In an interview with The Associated Press last week, Harris, now 61, reaffirmed that she is considering her options for a potential 2028 run. She emphasized her role as a leader within the Democratic Party, particularly in countering Trump’s influence and gearing up for the upcoming 2026 midterm elections.

Still Undecided

When asked during an interview with AP on October 17 whether she was planning a 2028 candidacy, Harris remarked, “I haven’t decided. Sincerely. I have not decided. I may or I may not. I have not decided.”

She clarified her ambitions regarding the presidency, reflecting on her past aspirations, saying, “It’s a job I wanted to do.” However, she emphasized that the path to that role requires a successful campaign.

The Democratic Landscape

As discussions about the 2028 presidential race heat up, political maneuvering among Democrats appears to be unfolding earlier than usual. Several potential candidates are already engaging with voters in key states. Notable figures include California Governor Gavin Newsom, term-limited Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and California Representative Ro Khanna. Ultimately, as many as 30 prominent Democrats may enter the primary.
