In a significant yet understated move, officials from the US and Russia have been collaborating on a fresh peace initiative aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. This newly drafted plan, as reported on Wednesday, would necessitate Ukraine's capitulation over certain territories and impose tight restrictions on the nation's military capabilities. This revelation comes in the wake of devastating drone and missile strikes in Ternopil, where at least 25 individuals lost their lives.

The peace proposal, reportedly formulated by Steve Witkoff, an envoy from Donald Trump, alongside Kremlin adviser Kirill Dmitriev, involves stringent measures that could allow Russia significant influence over Ukraine’s military and political landscape. Such demands are expected to be perceived as an act of surrender by the Ukrainian government.

Oleg Hrytsyshyn, a resident of one of the affected apartment buildings, shared a harrowing account of the attack. He described the chaos that ensued, stating, "There were several loud explosions. When I tried to get dressed, there was thick black smoke in the entrance. It was burning. It was impossible to get out, although I tried twice. The windows in the apartment were not broken. I knocked on the neighbors’ doors but no one answered." Fortunately, Hrytsyshyn was rescued and received medical attention for high blood pressure.

Social media also captured a video that seemingly shows the moment a missile struck the residential block. The Ukrainian interior ministry confirmed that the attack resulted in the deaths of 25 individuals, including three children, while injuring another 73, 15 of whom were also children.

Local resident Yaroslav Teslyuk recounted the incident, saying, "I heard a loud rumble. It was followed by the sound of a building collapsing." The attack occurred around 5:30 a.m., a time when many residents were still asleep, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the assault.
