YZi Labs Invests $11M in AI Education Startup VideoTutor VideoTutor positions itself as an “AI Education Agent,” adept at converting any query into a tailored, animated lesson complete with voice guidance. This innovative platform integrates a powerful large language model (LLM) with a Manim-based rendering pipeline, which allows for accurate visual representations of complex subjects, including equations, diagrams, and scientific principles.
Remarkably, within just ten days of its launch in May 2025, VideoTutor attracted over 20,000 users and produced more than 20,000 educational videos. The platform also received around 1,000 requests for API integration from various schools and educational platforms.
From Skeptic to Advocate: My Crypto Journey Dr. Jing Xiong, the AI Investment Director at YZi Labs and a former engineer with Google Gemini, highlighted that VideoTutor’s hybrid AI model surpasses traditional diffusion-based video tools. He noted that it achieves “semantic precision and visual clarity” at significantly reduced costs.
Furthermore, the company’s proprietary Layout Manager and its fault-tolerant LLM loop enable a faster and more precise video generation process when compared to its competitors.
VideoTutor’s mission is to democratize access to high-quality tutoring, especially considering that more than 85% of students in the U.S. cannot afford conventional tutoring services, which typically cost between $60 and $90 per hour. The platform currently caters to K–12 students, those preparing for the SAT/ACT, as well as STEM and language learners.

“We received over ten term sheets for this round, but we chose YZi Labs as our lead investor because we share a vision: education should be personalized, affordable, and accessible to everyone,” Zhao remarked.
